Electrical Work With a Local Point of View

Pointe-Claire brings together lakeside heritage, mature neighbourhoods and homes being updated for modern family life.

Homes near the Village and Lakeshore can present very different electrical questions from properties around Valois, Terra-Cotta or north of Highway 40. Some projects begin with older ungrounded circuits or aluminum wiring. Others begin with a new EV, a heat pump, an induction range or a renovation that asks more from the panel.

Because Electrilex is located here, local service is not a slogan. It means we understand the mix of homes, we are close when help is needed and our name remains connected to every job after the truck leaves.

01Panel and service upgrades

Capacity for the Home You Have—and What Comes Next

A panel can have an empty breaker position and still lack the electrical capacity needed for an EV charger, heat pump, spa, induction range or major renovation. We complete a residential load calculation and review the service, panel condition and future plans before recommending a change.

When a home still has a 100A service, we generally recommend planning toward 200A where practical. Larger 320A or 400A services are considered only when the actual household load justifies them. For service upgrades, Electrilex handles the required declarations and Hydro-Québec coordination.

  • 100A to 200A planning
  • Panel replacement
  • 320A or 400A when justified
  • Hydro-Québec coordination
New panels include a 25-year manufacturer warranty, supported by our 10-year labour warranty.

Come Home, Plug In and Be Ready for Tomorrow

A Level 2 charger should fit the home as well as the vehicle. We review electrical capacity, complete the load calculation, plan a clean cable route and place the charger where daily use remains simple.

For many homes with a 100A service, upgrading to 200A provides the strongest long-term foundation. When an upgrade is impractical or not a sensible investment, an approved energy-management system may allow safe charging within the available capacity. We provide compliant documentation for eligible rebate applications.

  • Dedicated charging circuit
  • Indoor or outdoor placement
  • Load management when appropriate
  • Rebate-ready documentation

Understand the Existing Wiring Before Opening the Walls

Established Pointe-Claire homes may contain ungrounded circuits, older receptacles, crowded junction boxes or wiring altered during past renovations. Some properties built during the aluminum-wiring era may also need careful assessment of accessible connections.

We start with diagnostics and a practical plan. The answer may be selected circuit replacement, grounding improvements, GFCI or AFCI protection, aluminum correction or coordinated rewiring while a room is already being renovated. The goal is to solve the real electrical issue without creating unnecessary disruption.

  • Ungrounded circuit correction
  • Aluminum wiring assessment
  • Kitchen and bathroom circuits
  • Safety and protection upgrades
Know what is there first. Then modernize only what the home truly needs.

When Something Is Not Working, Start With a Clear Answer

Dead outlets, partial power loss, flickering lights and breakers that keep tripping can interrupt the whole household. Electrilex troubleshoots the problem, explains the cause and completes small residential jobs without turning every visit into a major project.

Same-day service when possible.

Partial or Complete Power Loss
A loss of power may come from a tripped main breaker, a damaged connection, a problem with the electrical service or a Hydro-Québec outage. We identify whether the problem is inside the home or requires utility coordination.
Warm Outlet or Switch
An outlet or switch should not feel unusually warm. Heat may indicate a loose connection, an overloaded circuit or a deteriorating device. Stop using it until the cause can be inspected.
Burning Smell or Buzzing
Burning odours or buzzing sounds may indicate overheating, electrical arcing or a failing breaker, switch or connection. Turn off the affected circuit if it is safe to do so and request urgent electrical service.
Repeated Breaker Trips
A breaker that repeatedly trips may be responding to an overloaded circuit, faulty appliance, short circuit, ground fault or wiring problem. Resetting it repeatedly does not correct the underlying cause.
Dead Receptacle or Light
A dead outlet or light may result from a tripped GFCI or AFCI device, failed switch, damaged receptacle, loose connection or an issue elsewhere on the same circuit.
Small Installation or Repair
We also handle smaller residential work, including outlets, switches, dimmers, light fixtures, bathroom fans, timers, occupancy sensors and exterior GFCI protection.
